Are you adding negative feelings to uncomfortable feelings?
It is human nature to feel sad, low, and blue at times. This isn't really such a big problem. Feeling “Low” “Down” and “Blah” is a normal part of life.
But if we cannot accept feeling “Low”, we may react with something unhealthy that helps us feel good, right away. The distraction of uncomfortable feelings using pleasure can be the beginning of addiction.
It may immediately gratify us, but in the long term, it will become destructive.
It could take the form of comfort eating, security smoking, denial of drinking, problem gambling, etc.
But now, instead of having just one small problem - feeling “Low” we have now added a potentially destructive behavior on top. Now our problem is much bigger.
And what usually happens when we indulge in destructive behavior?
We feel guilty about it!
So now our problem of feeling “Low” is at least three times larger!
So what's the solution?
Reverse the process.
Learn to befriend, relate to and accept your uncomfortable feelings.
Because the nature of feelings is to change.
And when your feeling passes - you're free and clear!
